Attracted to the colors, single-use plastic has evolved into a useful material in my jewelry line. Let us use some of this plastic we are surrounded with one more time? A perky flower brooch is created with a sterling silver back supporting petals created from a single-use vitamin bottle. The flower is embellished with Japanese beads to give it presence and a spark of iridescent teal. Peaking over the petals are four lime green Czech flower beads.

Why the cost when using single use plastic? I cut the plastic to shape (it is not precut), I file the edges so they are smooth against the skin, and I punch holes in the individual pieces for attachment. As you can see, as much goes into each plastic element as the metal pieces in any jewelry. Although the plastic is out of the recycle bin there is the time, labor, and skill attached to the plastic so I can give you a beautiful piece of jewelry.
