Attracted to the colors, single-use plastic has evolved into a useful material in my jewelry. Let us use some of this plastic we are surrounded by one more time and make something beautiful. The pendant is created from a blue vitamin and lime shampoo bottles. The shapes are hand cut and attached to a sterling silver back. Japanese seed beads and thread attach the elements and embellish the edges. Continuing the velvet blue is lapis lazuli beads and Czech glass beaded beads continue away from the central pendant. Kaki Chinese Crystal created the necklace sides and is finished with sterling silver lobster claw and loop closure.

Blue Velvet Necklace

  • Czech glass beads, Japanese seed beads, lapis lazuli semi-precious beads, single use plastic, recycled sterling silver sheet and wire, and a sterling silver lobster claw closure.

  • Why the cost when using single use plastic? I cut the plastic to shape (it is not precut), I file the edges so they are smooth against the skin, and I punch holes in the individual pieces for attachment. As you can see, as much goes into each plastic element as the metal pieces in any jewelry. Although the plastic is out of the recycle bin there is the time, labor, and skill attached to the plasic so I can give you a beautiful piece of jewelry.
